Campus Couriers tips for packing your boxes
Don't be tempted to overload your boxes with the wrong types of things. Put smaller, heavier items such as books, magazines, folders and course notes, etc. in a smaller box, medium size boxes for general items and larger boxes for lighter, bulkier items such as duvets, pillows and lamps. Guideline sizes are small (L42 x W42 x H21 cm), medium (L42 x W42 x H42 cm) and large (L42 x W42 x H63 cm).
Remember there are weight restrictions. Boxes must not weigh more than 25kg or there will be additional charges and your consignment may be delayed. Check at the 'How It Works' page to see how the size of the box can affect what is known as the volumetric weight.
If you are using our international services, check at the 'How It Works' page for size restrictions on the boxes you are sending.
Seal all open edges of your boxes with 48mm/50mm-wide plastic or reinforced carton tape on both the top and bottom. Ordinary household adhesive tape usually isn’t strong enough.
We strongly recommend that you only use good quality double-walled removal boxes. You can buy these locally from an office products store, a storage company or the Post Office. Once you have bought them they should last you for most of your time at university, college or school. If you are having difficulty finding suitable boxes, please contact us.
You can send suitcases but we do not recommend it as the adhesive labels used by the carriers can come unstuck on certain types of suitcase fabrics and this can lead to long delays. Also, we recommend that you do not send other types of bags such as sports bags, backpacks or rucksacks. Instead pack them in a box.
If you do send suitcases, lock them and label them just like you would if you were checking them in as hold baggage on a plane. The label should be firmly attached and clearly show the delivery address and a reference number we will send to you by email before the collection day.
